Hi All, While attending the recent Texas Predator Posse Hog Hunt I got a chance to look through a GREAT pair of binoculars owned by GMB. The binoculars were the clearest I’ve ever looked through… period. I wear eyeglasses and I didn’t have to adjust anything to see the entire field of view because they have a 22mm eye relief!! The binoculars are made by Carl Zeiss with all the quality that, that implies. I bought a pair for myself today; did they cost the $1000.00 plus dollars that they are worth? NO. Did they cost the $500.00 to $600.00 one would expect to pay at Internet discount prices? NO. They were less than $200.00!!! They are the binoculars used on the Berlin Wall or “Check-Point Charlie” they are the NVA 7x40 and yes they are “military surplus”. Check out this write up and review: binofan.home.att.net/zjena7x40.htmI bought mine at Sportsman's Guide online, but they are available at various places, do a search on the Web and you’ll find them if you’re interested. Good Hunting Marcos (elalto)

OK,
I paid $179.99, if you do a search on the Web you will find them for anywhere from $167.99 to $495.00 or more. I don't know how it compares to other high priced and fine binoculars, I just know they are the best I've looked through.
Hope this helps,
Marcos (elalto)

I bought the Nikon Monarchs this past August and think they are about as good as it gets. Cost about $350 with tax, I think.. I had a pair of the compact Bushnells that were just inadequate during low light conditions...... The Nikons are great!

the carl zeiss jenna binocs are every bit as good as swaurovskis maybe a tad better. the NVA's are a lil heavy but a great piece of glass none the less. I use the 7x40 EDF's on a daily basis, they are the same glass only roof prizm instead of porro prizm. RR
