Here is the deal. I just got a Remington 700 Mountain Rifle in .221 Fireball w/ a laminated stock. I decided on the .221 since most of my shots are less than 150 yards on coyotes, and I didn't want to tear up a bobcat in the rare occasions that I run across one. They are not all as big as the 38 pounder that I got with my SKS last year. This is my first dedicated predator rifle. I do not reload as of yet, but that is my next step. Here are the scopes that I have it narrowed down to.
Bushnell Elite 3200 3x9-40 w/ FireFly reticle for $172.49
Bushnell Elite 3200 3x9-50 w/ FireFly reticle for $269.00
Bushnell Elite 4200 2.5x10-50 w/ Illuminated Dot for $374.99
Burris Fullfield II 3-9x40 w/ Illuminated Ballistic Plex for $302.47
Here is the deal. I hunt late in the afternoon and at anytime in the night. I think that I would like an illuminated reticle over the FireFly. I am leaning to the Burris with illuminated ballistic plex. I have heard good things about these, and they seem pretty neat. At the same time I like the Bushnell Elite 4200 with illuminated dot due to the larger objective. What are your opinions on these two scopes. Does the larger objective make that much of a diffference for late evening or night hunting, or would the 40 be ok. How does the 4200 series compare to the Fullfield II series. Any and all help would be appreciated. I am also thinking of going with Burris ring mounts and the signature rings.
Thanks for the help.
Jason.
