Hey guys! do to budget constraints I purchased a Bushnell Dusk to Dawn in 4x16x40 for my .223. I decided with such a small caliber that I didnt have to worry about eye relief, which seems to be ( or was)a problem with Bushnell But other than that has anyone had any problems with these scopes? I am planning to use it mainly for targets out to 200 yards and Coyotes out to 350, for those who might ask what I am using it for...

I've got a cheapo Bushnell Banner 6x18 on my 223 model 12 and it does a great job on pdogs, have shot some a long ways out with it, clarity is good for a cheap scope, but couldn't say about the light gathering, haven't been in that situation.

Hey cdngunner: I wouldn't loose any sleep over it. It's better to have a budget scope on a rifle and be shooting and hunting, than to have an unscoped rifle in the safe that you can't shoot. I put a mid-level Bushnell 3-9X40 on my wife's 25-06 three years ago when I bought it. She won't let me upgrade it. Her philosophy is "if it ain't broke, don't fix it". Her rifle is capable of sub-moa accuracy, and she kills stuff very dead with it. So she might be on to something here.

I was kinda pushing it and bought a 6-18 for my 223, you know after close to 500 rounds through this rig it stills hits where the X is when the thing goes off. I'd love to be able to buy a high dollar scope but I like things like eating and making the monthly bills, Ok so I'm finacialy embarrased but I bet I'll have as much fun as the guy that sports a Cooper and Schmitt and Bender.

I bet I'll have as much fun as the guy that sports a Cooper and Schmitt and Bender. Kirk That is what it all boils down to! ;D I do own expensive optics, got a nightforce that goes for about $1200.....why? because it will stand up to the abuse (recoil) that cheaper scopes won't!..........but that doesn't mean I have any more fun than the guy shooting a NEF with a bushnell on top! Good equipment doesn't make a good shooter/hunter........it's the nut behind the butt! Last time I was at the range, a guy just down from me was shooting a custom rifle based on a Nesika action, topped with a Swarovski scope and he was shooting 2 inch groups at 100! He probably had over 6K invested in that package and I was shooting groups 1/3 the size of his with a stock 700 and a Burris.......... Buy the best that you can afford and go have fun!

"I'm finacialy embarrased" Ksmrk no need to be,when it comes down to it ,it's what you have in your hands that works
I could maybe afford a Schmidt&Bender if I did some squeezeing here and there, but I dont see any need to with all the good scopes out there nowdays like my father (who's passed on but his words get true'r every day)used to say, the only one you have to please is your self
