I've got a 1988 Honda 4 wheeler....looks like junk but starts easily and runs great.....I use it to recover game and to haul stands and other stuff. I've thought about upgrading, but this one still runs great and I don't worry about scratches and dings!!

I just bought one of those cheapy Rovers from Sam's. Its one of the dump bed varities of ATV's with a bench seat, sort of like a Kawasaki Mule. Really not much more than a glorified yard working vehicle. It is 2 wheel drive only, and very inexpensively made. For plain old pasture hopping it seems ideal, but I wouldn't want it for any serious off road work. It is replacing the electric golf cart I have used as a hunting vehicle for the past two years. It is a quantum leap above the golf cart but doesn't compare to the Polaris Ranger 6X6 that my brother has. For the money and for carrying lots of equipment and people across muddy pastures it seems great. Has very good low end horsepower and carrys three men, a loaded cooler and a couple of sacks of corn very well. It will also fit it between the fender wells of my F-150 and can be carried in the bed of my truck. I'll keep y'all updated on how it holds up this winter.

Several years ago I purchased a 1986 Kawasaki Bayou 300 2WD for getting out into remote areas of the grasslands. Guess what!!! The government changed the rules and you cannot leave established trails any more! I have only used the ATV one time, on private land, to get out away from the road for calling. I will try to get a little more use out of it this fall.

silverfox,
I just sold that exact make and model. It was still running strong. Never had any problems going about anywhere with it.

I have a 1996 Polaris Sportsmen (300 4x4) you can not believe the places I've been and the things that it has hauled into and out of the woods. There are three set of tail lights and three license plates off of the trailer that I have left in the East Texas woods. The trailer is not to small being 6 1/2 x 8 with 15 inch tires.

Does anyone have a Polaris 500 4x4? I am looking into one as Deadeye got a Polaris 700 and I love it, but a bit above my price range. Unless of course anyone wants to pay top dollar for a Custom flamed out Spirit 1100 motorcycle

I've got a 250 4x4 polaris and it has hauled many hogs, deer, and wide variety of other things, including my big ole butt on wet muddy days. For hunting, this was the best money I believe I ever spent.

I have a 98 Honda four trax, and a 2000 Honda foreman ES 450. The foreman now has a little over 7000 miles on it. The only problem I've had is I cut a boot while chaseing cows one day. I was in rough country and had to run over lots of small brush. My deer hunters named my Honda the Enterprise because it boldly go's where no man has gone before. I went on a hunting trip to New Mexico and it got down to three degrees, the Hondas started right up, three other brands wouldn't start untill mid morning. It's not uncommon fo me to put fourty miles (pasture) on my Honda in a day just checking cows-water. The main thing is Hondas hold up to this, and they'll hold their value at trade in. Unless your planning on towing something buy the 350 size, it'll take you anywhere you want to go, and you can lift it into the back of the truck or off a stump if you need to. Buy a Honda.

Bozo, I've got the Polaris 500 and love mine. Only trouble I have had is a cut boot on our hog hunt in south Texas not long ago. Other than that it does and goes anywhere I want it to. Yeah its a bit big in some cases but I never have to worry about "Can I use it??"!! My uncle in Alaska also 2 Polaris 500's and says he has had no problems with either of em. Oh yeah, I still blame the boot problem on kellyg so keep that in mind if he comes out there pd hunting!! ;D
