Hi guys,it's me again.I'm still looking for a compact scope for my TC carbine, but that is another deal.I was goofing around at the gun shop the other day and ran across some 35gr. Hornady VMAX.Well, needless to say I bought a box just to have, and was wondering if anyone has tried any of these on varmints,or PD's?They should be interesting to say the least.I'm guessing they leave a pretty big exit hole though,so would probably not be to good for pelts anyway.I was thinking about trying these in my RRA AR15,24" heavy barrel. It's a 1:12" twist, and loves 55gr. VMAX in LC brass with 8208 surplus powder.Anyone tried,or have a recipe for 35grainers I'd like to hear about it.Thanks Lonestar

I've shot quite a few of the "surplus" 33 grainers, I bought 500 when they were on sale at LS&B......the really light bullets lose their energy very quickly, so don't expect them to work as well as the 40s. I have killed a few coyotes with them but I sure wouldn't recommend it....it's just not enough bullet. They have been very accurate in everything I have tested them in (22 K Hornet pistol, 222, 223, 22-250), just use mid-level loads for 40 grain bullets and you will be safe. I expected them to blow up when fired in my 22-250.....didn't happen.....and they shot sub 1" groups! I checked the speed across my chronograph and the 22-250 loads were doing 4343 fps!

I have tried several bullet weights in all of my .22s, including 2 AR-15s and they all seem to prefer the 55gr Nosler BT or the Sierra BK. I haven't tried the 55gr in my 221 Fireball yet. Everyone tells me that it prefers the 40gr.
Just my observation, and it's probably worth what you paid for it! hehehehe
