The other day I read a post that motivated me to check some bullets I had bought some years back. I forget who I got them from, but they were the Barnes Originals in .338.
DISCLAIMER: They had left Barnes and were sold by someone else. Barnes has NO responsibility for this.
I found one .308 bullet in with the 250 grain bullets. The weight variation of the .338 bullets was 248 to 252 gr.
I found a bunch of 300 grain .358 bullets in with the 300 grain .338 bullets. Similar weight variation.
These bullets have a tough copper outside and lead inside, almost a hand made bulet for killing animals. They are great for their intended purpose. My .338 shoots the 300 grain bullets at about 2350 fps. They stay together, penetrate and just flat out kill what they hit, here or in Africa. As they say, big and slow is the way to go. Big game and tough animals, NOT varmints. Long for caliber, high sectional density and B.C. What is there not to love ?
I guess I was very lucky when young, compensated by being careful when older.
