i shot at and missed abig rutting buck this morning. i was wondering would that same buck be skiddish about using the same trail that he was shot at? if not then i will get him this weekend if not sooner......but if he is, what would be the best tactic to use to try to get this buck? i am hunting my families tree farm with very little open areas. the buck i shot today is the same one i saw yesterday evening but on the other side of the property and the deer i shot today was in the same field the big buck came from which is also full of 4-6 ft pines. so should i hunt this field or where i saw the big buck this morning? also would using a small set of rattlin horns be good to use to try to get the big one to come? and if so would it be best to rattle softly with the small antlers or would it be better to have some volume to the rattlin?

;)If tha big boy is indeed rutting, go where the does are! Most of the does are not in estrus yet, so try setting out scent pads up and down the trail. Find the trails that go to the field and set up in that area, but not right on the trails and do not walk in the trails. You've already eliminated some of his competition, so he may be more active now, especially after a few days of no hunting pressure! Of course, there's always blind luck! ;D

Scent,
Scent. Doe in Heat. I think you are in east Texas so the rut is starting to kick up. Scent will bring him back. He will already be in the area because of the scent you put out so try rattling also. Don't rattle till after you sit quietly for a while. The scent will probably work. Put it out heavy in your shooting lanes.
