Used my Buck Tag

I used my buck tag for the season. I took the first buck that I could get a shot at. I am not sure what reason that I took this buck, was it because I am fairly knew to hunting and would shoot just about anything that walked out (that doesn't mean that I am trigger happy, I can hold my shot just ask Bob), or because I took my 10yo. son with me and wanted him to see me take him. I prefer to believe that I took him because of the excitement that I knew that my boy would feel, and boy was he excited. The buck was only a spike but he had a good body mass for a 2 1/2yo. I have seen several other bucks on the property over the last half week(2-6pointers,8-pointer,unknown points, and a beautiful 8-pointer on the wrong side of the fence ), but I only have this place for 2wks. and cannot be sure that I will ever see another buck. The other hunters that are on with me haven't seen anything and the group across the road haven't either.
I guess all that matters is that I am at least going to have some venison for the table.

Hey Tooth,

Congrats! There is nothing wrong with taking a spike. You can't put a price on having your son there with you! You have good venison for the table and an experience your son will carry with him for the rest of his life...........sound OK to me!! ;D

Sabre2th,Congrads this is only the first one of many I think. Sabre it might be a Spike this year and maybe next its the Next Muy Grande. you never know. But like you said you now have great table fair for then next few months.
