Here is a pic I like, they say with a properly placed shot from a .223 will drop them in their tracks. The darker red would be the best placement. I would feel better with a little BIGGER GUN!!!

I agree with the bigger gun. The lighter red color looks as if it would be on the shoulder grissle of the boars.

That's an excellent picture and illustrates well that the hold point on a pig is forward of the shoulder and not back of it like a whitetail. Shoot them behind the shoulder and you could be in for a long trailing job. Now that's if they are broadside or quartering toward you. If they are quartering away, hold just behind the shoulder and you will shred the boiler room and it should go out in front of the opposite shoulder. Another good pont made here is that the hold point is usually lower than most people think it is. The hide and shield are very thick and make a boars shoulders look bigger than the internal parts really are.

That is an excellent photo - wish I would have seen it before this past April. Was turkey hunting with a .223 over a 12 guage. Had an opportunity shot on a big porker and took it - aimed behind the shoulder. He's probably still running (maybe limping a bit, but running). Durn it...

The spot I like to try and place a bullet is where the dark red park and its ear come together. I have yet to see any hog untrack with a shot placed here, even with a caliber as small as a 22-250.

i also shoot a 22-250 and have never had a hog run, the only one that came close was shot in the butt. but he didnt go far. The best place to shot a hog is a inch below the ear.

those are good suggestions for the rifle, but with the bow and arrow I'll have to say keep it tight behind the shoulder and get a qtr away shot if at all poss, and do keep it low, heavy traditional sharp broadheads, and heavy well made bullets!
