Dead Eye would it be cheating if I brought my 308? would be neat to see a 168 mk hit a p-dog at 1000 probably not as cool as Bozo 50 but it should make for some fun.

Bring it down. That is the fun thing about p-dogs, there is no cheating. You can use a bow, slingshot, rimfire, centerfire, shotgun, watergun, bb-gun, cap gun, dart gun, long gun, handgun, even a bowie knife. It is all fair game.

Thanks for the invite, Dead Eye. I'll try to get things in shape so that I can shake loose from here. It sounds like a great time. I'd enjoy meeting a few of the guys from here too.

My first trip to Texas I didn't know anything about the VHA "clubs". I joined via cell phone the 1st day of the hunt. On the 2nd day I got in the 500 yard club with a 511 yard shot. On my last trip, using a custom Douglas (heavy) barreled 7 STW with 20 MOA mount and Burris Zee rings with 20 MOA inserts(Leupold 8-25x40), I canned a "dog" at 1115 yards. Verified with my Leica1200 yard range finder and the truck odometer. It took 38 rounds at ranges between 1000 and 1350 yards to get a hit in the 25 mph cross wind that day. I understand BozoWise does some guiding for prarie dogs, so maybe he can get me in the 1500 or 2000 yard club some day?

My longest was 627 yds with a Rem 700 EtronX 22-250 on the RoseBud Indian Reservation in South Dakota. I have killed several in the 500-600yd range, but just can't get past the 600yd mark. I have a .243AI that I am really looking forward to trying next year.... just haven't figured out when and where yet. South Dakota is a long way from Austin, TX!

Nope, it's a Georgia Jim's Stock. I send him some wood I had cut about 15 yrs back for a muzzleloader stock and he rough shaped the forend and grip. I re-shaped the forend around the trigger to streamline it. He makes some beautiful pieces for contenders and maybe encores, I'm not sure. He only knocked $25 from the total with me sending the wood. I just wanted to use the wood I had. Here is the grip. I'm saving for the green/laminated one for my stainless .375JDJ Contender. Here is the link to his sight. www.olegeorgiajim.com/index.htm

My longest shot I have made on a pdog was 604 yards. I had two dogs on the same mound. Took me three tries to hit the first then nailed the second with the next shot. I was shooting my Savage 112BVSS 223. Load was 50 grain blitzkings behind 26 grains of Benchmark.
Longest shot on a rockchuck was 875 yards. Shot was made with a 7MMSTW Sendero shooting 120 Balistic tips and 80.5 grains of RL 22.
Going to try for the 1000 yard club this summer.
Mike.
