Just curious if there are any other folks out there that collect cartridges.
What do you collect?
How many do you have?
How long have you been collecting?
I collect everything but wildcats (anything with a corresponding headstamp) (loaded or primer & bullet)
I have about 300
Collecting for about 13 years now.

Do you have a 375 SuperMag pistol cartridge? I have some new brass and the correct bullets. The headstamp is 375 SM IHMSA ....
I'm not a serious collector but I do have a small collection.....

GonHuntin,
No I don't have that cartridge. It's not listed in my COTW book, is it new?
Do you have the new 17 HMR, 7.92x33 Kurz, or 577 Nitro Express 3"? I have all 3 if you are interested.

Dave
No, it's not new, it's a cartridge designed by Elgin Gates for handgun silhouette competition. It is in the same series of cartridges as the 357 SuperMag (Maximum), the 414 SuperMag and the 445 SuperMag. I've got 357 and 445 SuperMag cartridges too if you need them? The 375 SuperMag is a bit rare, it was chambered by Dan Wesson and Seville in a few handguns.
I'd be interested in the Nitro Express and the Kurz cartridges if we can work out a trade.

Dave, d**nATION!!! Your Kung-Fu is STRONG, dude!!! That is one totally enviable collection!!! I've been meaning to start one of these cartridge collections for a couple of years now, thinking that I'd take it to Antiques Roadshow in my late 60s and find out it was worth 100K! And even if it never amounted to squat in monetary terms, at least I could cause the wife lots of grief by putting it all up in frames and hanging it on the walls of our home!
Seriously though, where in hell did you get that freakin' .950 JDJ?!?! I mean, c'mon . . . what in hell fires a cartridge like that?!?! And how many rifles were ever built to fire off the .700 Nitro Express?!?! And that .17 FA EX . . . how does the projectile even hold together at the velocities probable with that kind of case capacity to projectile sectional density ratio!?!? Those cartridges are friggin ridiculous, man!!!
LOL, Dave

Dave, Whoa Nellie!!! Hold the phone, partner!!! I might have another dandie for ya!!!
Do you have a .408 Cheyenne Tactical yet? If not, I'm gonna polish up a piece of brass for ya, seat a bullet in it, and send it your way!
I own an EDM Arms Windrunner chambered for this little bugger. It's a newer cartridge that was created by essentially necking down a .505 Gibbs dangerous game cartridge case to a caliber .408 projectile. It's shown lots of promise on paper and in initial field testing. But those that manufacture and shoot them are still working out the buggs. May very well have something to do with as yet inferior cartridge components!
Let me know! Dave

Dave I just saw one for the first time this past weekend. The guy wouldn't part with it though. It actually had the 480 headstamp. Do you have any with the 480 headstamp or are they all stamped with 505? Here's my whole collection, I'm about to run out of room. Dave

BW, Put your mailing address in my message box and I'll get one out to ya in the next 48 hours!
Dave, Hmmm . . . .480 stamped on the case head? That's pretty wierd. That case (made in error) probably came out of the Jamison Cartridge Co. facility up in Sturgis, S.D. They're the people who are making the brass now that all the stuff manufactured in Germany has essentially dried up. But aside from the new Jamison stuff, all .408 CheyTac brass should have one of only three headstamps on it: .408 CheyTac XM-1, .408 CheyTac XM-2, and .408 CheyTac XM-3. All the brass I have is stamped .408 CheyTac XM-2. Incidentally, the 'XM' stands for 'experimental model'.
Also, if you see any of this stuff marked '.505 Gibbs' and it's actually being assembled into live ammo and fired, watch the obituaries for the names of those foolhardy enough to detonate such cartridges. 'Cause the .408 CheyTac's parent case (.505 Gibbs) is nothing more than a dimensional template for the offspring cartridge. .505 Gibbs brass is no where near strong enough to hold up to .408 CheyTac pressures (i.e. 75K-80K PSI)!
Cheers, Dave

I meant 408 not 480, sorry about the misunderstanding. I'd sure like to have one of those cartridges. I have an extra 7.92x33mm kurz if you want one. Where are you located?
BW, are you a collector also?
