Any of you guys keep snakes as pets? I just got a new Egyptian sand boa. I'll post pics later I'm getting him a pinky tomorrow so hopefully we can get a photo of his crushing the mouse. I'll post more info about it later. Anyone else keep snakes?

I used to breed ball phythons and columbian boas. They all disappeared before my marriage Trust me an invest in a female mouse for the time being and then in a female rat. No petstore will openly sell you a female because you'll never be back to buy more mice. Yet I have befriended a few shops and then offered them 50.00 cash for a femal and it well pays of in the end. One shop owner said no go, yet a week or so later after continuing to buy products for him he agreed to an exchange for one of my snakes. Once you get one female you are set and I even offered most of the females back to the shop since I had plenty of males to feed the snakes. Win/Win you should always strive to find that place in life

Boy never thought of that one I would go for the mice and rats. Their gestation period is really short, they have tons of babies, the females will always be pregnant even with only one male around, and they are super hardy. I fed mine leftovers and dog food.

Pet snakes, I call them snake skins, you never have to worry about feeding them.

My philosophy is simple - if it doesn't have shoulders, its not my friend. Snakes are for nailing on the barn door.

I am not opposed to keeping them as a pet, but most of them I just leave alone. That is unless it is poisionous and living in my backyard. ;D

I have a great fetish for snakes and let me tell you that I have had many differnt kinds as pets...They will eat nearly anything that doesn't eat them first...They do like gerbils and hamsters...Some pet snakes will tend to shy away from something that they are not used to eating but if you rub a little chicken broth on them it ususally will make the snake eat even if it is not hungry.

Girl, we WEREN'T kidding!! I used to keep snakes when I was growing up but then one got out in the house. Poor thing couldn't get any traction on the polished hardwood floors and dads bootheel ended the escape attempt. End of snakes in the house.

I harbor bad thoughts and ill will towards snakes.

:)Hey MrsWestexhunter.... If these guys could see those pictures of those rattlebugs that are on display at Key Feed there in Robert Lee, you'd never see hide nor hair of them for years to come! I just can't imagine walking up on something like that, live OR DEAD!
