I live in NE Wyoming and appreciate the invite to the board. I like to hunt big game, predators, and prairie dogs. I've been calling coyotes for a few years now. Look forward to seeing how things are done in TX. Have some friends who used to live there and looked like some fine varmint hunting. Shoot most of my critters with a 22-250 or 257 Roberts. Depends on how much walking is involved. Thanks again

Welcome aboard doghunter. You'll get a great perspective from a lot of different areas of the country, not just Texas. And yes Texas is Heaven on Earth, and the holy grail of predator hunting.

Howdy folks TomTalker here! TT works fine. I 've registered a couple of days but haven't had time to say hello, SO HELLO. TomTalker comes from the name I gave to the boxcalls I make but I've started doing open reeds and howlers too but so far as a hobby. I recognize quite a few names here already. See you an the hand calls forum and did I see Turkey forum. TT from Ontario where most of the roads are closed do to drifting snow this morning. TT

Hey My name is Mike, I live in Mississauga,Ont. I was thinking about trying some wolf and coyote hunting this year. Never tried it before but it looks like fun. I have a Carlton's Bear Call, would i be able to use this for coyotes and wolfs. thanks Mike

Hey Mike,
Welcome to the Posse! I just want to warn you that once you start predator calling you will become addicted! ;D
The Carlton Bear Call with work fine for calling predators. Since it is an open reed call, you will need to practice with it a bit more. It also won't freeze up on you like a closed reed call can. You can get higher pitched prey distress and pup whine sounds by moving your teeth further down to the end of the reed and soundboard towards your mouth. You might want to poke around in the Hand Calls forum. Our Moderator there is Rich Cronk of Cronk Calls. He makes some of the finest open reed calls and howlers available and will be able to answer any specific questions you may have. I am sure our other members will chime to help as well.
Good Hunting,
Bob

My name is Darrel Olson. I live in SE Minn. and love calling. Been to the National Coyote Calling Championships in Rawlins, Wy. for quite a few years now. Also to the Midwest Coyote Calling Event in St. Francis, Ks two years. I am a civil engineer technician, so I don't get out hunting as much as I want sometimes. I like talking about calling, so I though I would check this board out. Hope I posted this right.

Hey Darrel, Welcome to the Posse! You are the second red fox hunter we have on board from Minnesota that I know of. Randy Buker, one of the top red fox callers in the country, hangs out here also. He is from Parkers Prairie. You two may have crossed paths already. Here is a link to his web-site: www.geocities.com/foxhunter_56308/We will look forward to your sharing some of your hunting tales with us! Good Hunting, Bob

Hello all, My name is Allan Schlag. I work as a toolpush on a drilling rig. My family and I live on a small farm east of Red Deer in central Alberta,Canada. There is lots of whitetail and mule deer,a few moose and plenty of coyotes to hunt. I have never tried calling coyotes before though. That's it for now. Thanks- Al
