Extra clean underwear is the first thing you pack when going hog hunting Sows can be harder to kill then boars when little ones are around

Coondawg that might just qualify as the understatement of the year! ;D I do like hog hunting though because they're so tough. I have so many weird stories that I'd get kicked off this board for bogging down the system if I tried to tell 'em all! Ok, just one little one...and I'll shorten it. My buddy and I were cleaning a nice hog (250#) when we noticed a 'tumor' in the rib cage. When we cut it open there was a broadhead embedded there! The freaky part is that the broadhead had stuck there on it's way OUT! That dang hog had been shot with an arrow almost all the way through and lived. When we rousted it up it ran like a greyhound-seemed like any other healthy hog. Now that's freakin' tough!!!

Now you know what TEXAS TOUGH means ;D Think if I would found something like that I would have needed clean underwear right then You need to post that story in the campfire section for the Posse hunt for the guys going on that hunt.

You have no idea how bad I wish I was going on that hunt! But right after Christmas and all... My buddy and I like to tell stories of when we used to hunt pigs. People that have never been just sit there slack-jawed... Most of the hunting he and I did was outside of Abilene-we had a really cool system to find 'em that almost never failed. Next time you find yourself pokin' around out west, have a good look at those flat-top hills. You'd never know that the rimrock on most of those is undercut with areas like caves. All kinds of critters lay in there because they can't be seen from below or above. Leave it to some bored idiots like us to kick a rock over the side one day....what fun we had!! ;D

Smith & Wesson Model 629 .44 Mag. with a 4" barrel . The short barrel is nice when getting in and out of my old farm truck while checking and repairing fence . Also is nice when I'm setting on the ground callin Bobcats or Coyotes the short barrel doesn't stick in the ground . This morning I went out to close our squirrel season and came upon some BIG cat tracks , I was carrying my Marlin Model 39A .22 and I think I probably would have went back to the house if I didn't have my flame throwing buddy on my hip . I was slipping down a narrow creek bottom at the time and even with my buddy there , my hair still stood on end . I took a couple of Fox squirrels and will be having them for dinner tomorrow with gravy and bisquits . The woods were really quite this morning . I usually see a lot of squirrels in this spot but not this morning . It was almost to quite . Good Luck Huntin , Okie-Yoter

Hey GW how are you at using a Blow Gun? That might be a little more challenging to try.

it is illegal for me to carry a handgun while out in th efield... but hypothetically if I were to carry one it woudl be in .45 Colt, ACP, or Schofield... I have far too many weapons in .45 to make a choice on just one
this is of course, Hypothetically, once my .gov changes it's way of thinking about Handguns for hunting

i was jsut wonderin'.............do any of ya carry a pistol when u call......just to dispose of a wounded yote......i hate havin' to put another .223 or .22-250 in one. i realize that this may seem redundant.....all the other responses above really seem to be geared to hog huntin'. i am just curious as to what kind and caliber for polishing of the wounded okcoyote
