Here is my hand made ghillie, less the gloves and pants I am working on. I have made it from jute twine, volleyball nets and a set of fatigues. Almost time to roll around outside in the field and get Bobcat down here to help me call some yotes.

This was after some training with a Local SD, temp was about 104 that day, humidity the same, the water in my camelback under the ghillie top reached a temp of 89 degrees... The stalk was almost 1000yds to FFP... The rifle has turned into this... Im also the Fieldcraft moderator at Snipers Paradise, and have made one or two other ghillies in my time... Bruce

Ive done quite a few Tactical rifles in assorted calibers....Last one was a 300RUM, First one I ever did was a Sendero SF in 300WBY, Ive done 22-250's, 223's and 308's...
I sold my entire rifle collection to be able to afford to go back to college to study Emergency Medecine. Im left with this one rifle in 308, its a custom by Jeff Hicks at HD RIfles...
TexasDoc can verify through first hand witnesses that before the gun became a full up custom and was still a plain jane 700P with a USO 10x USMC I was good out to 1100yds on static metal sils. Now that its a full on custom........lol.......I cant wait to get into some mischief.
The LTR your workin on is hands down my favorite rifle, and probably what the perfect Mtn rifle is......light, well balanced with a heavy barrel. I did one in 308 with a 12x custom mil dot...kickin myself for gettin rid of it....
I should have some more Ghillie pics in the next few weeks as I have to do an article of comparison of the Tactical Concealment Mfg Ghillie Hood, vs the Full Military ghillie... Gonna do some pics and MPEG Video...
Take care,
Bruce

:DHey Bruce ... can't wait to see the pics and vids. I had heard that the Army was doing some custom .300 with a carbon type barrel that was getting out there, too and with some custom ammo. But that's been a few months, and don't know how successful it is? By the way... I did some of this stuff too in the late 60's... but of all things it was for the USN!

Navy is good.........lol if I was smart I would have gone Aircrew Rescue Swimmer, gotten some cool shades and a nickname like Hollywood or Wolfman.... But no....I had to join the Army....
I think it was the fact that I grew up just outside of Pensacola NAS, and knew everything.......and wanted to get away from the Navy areas....
The front line ground forces have been doing some really cool experiments with quite a bit, ranging from the heavy magnums, to DMR rifles in exotic 6.5 cals...which proved themselves quite worthy in Afghan and Iraqi theatres.....
Shhhhhhh.........dont tell no one...

;DYeah Bruce... my son-in-law was just in from Iraq on leave with the 4th ID... he gave me an ear full of some bizzare stuff that they have been using and shooting there! Man.. that was 35 years ago, and still miss it!!! I don't blame you, I'd get away from any Stateside NAS too. And oh yeah, try Maverick or Goose instead of Hollywood & Wolfman, works better in the movies!
