I just completed my first hunt with the Hornady SST bullets and may I say that I was VERY IMPRESSED! I know it does not take much to bring down a Whitetail deer, but this bullet did it in a most impressive way. I loaded the 129gr SST bullet in a .260 Rem caliber. By the time I recovered from the recoil to get the deer back in the sight picture of the scope... there it layed exactly in the same spot it was when I shot it.
With that being said.... I am anxiously awaiting the Groove Bullets in both a .264 and especially a .224. I am going to load some for the TPP HOG hunt in my 7mm-08.

That's good to hear, I'm about to load my first SST bullets for deer hunting this season, 150 gr .308. My buddy and I have been using Nosler ballistic tip and it still kills the animal, but they seem to run farther than I like so I'm very excited about trying this new bullet.

Could you give some details, such as muzzle velocity, range, shot placement, deer size, exit wound, etc I've shot the 129 gr. SST in my 260 with so-so results. Good enough for hunting, but not as accurate as alot of other bullets. I still have some playing around to do.

Tod I tried the 129sst in my swede this past weekend, along with the regular 129s,the regular 129 did better at 50 and 100yds(less than moa)the 129gr sst didnt settel down till they got past 200yds at 300 and 600(as far as the range allows)the sst really began to shine(300yds 31/4 in same at 600)I have heard that it takes some distance for boattails to settle(I guess its true)the regular 129s went less than 1.5in at 100,2in at 200 and almost 5 in at 300 past that the groups fellapart,I dont want to list loads cause they are very much at and near max for this rifle, however best results (out of 7 different loads fired)were with the slower powders(re19/4831sc/re22)

;)Shot the Hornady 150 gr. SST .300win Mag last week and planted a 160lb. buck at 120 yards.... period .... end of statement! I had been using Hornady 140gr. Light Magnums for my .270 with OK results, but will be switching to the SST real soon. I don't want to sound like a commercial, but since I started using Hornady's about 10-15 years ago, i've never had any complaints! ;D

I am using 46gr of IMR 4831, Rem case, and a CCI200 primer and I am getting 2855fps. The deer I shot was at 125yds and it was a heart/lung shot. He was standing broadside to me. He field dressed at approx 130lbs. I tested atleat 6-8 different load combinations with different powders and this was the best recipe I came up with. .565 5 shot group at 100yds. The first three were in the same hole, when I realized just how good this group had the "potential" to be, that's when the pucker factor went up and the 4th and 5th shots moved to the right.
