i have used the .222, .223, .243, .270and even a 30-06 for coyotes. i would have to say that the .22-250 is my favorite caliber. i use to use hornady sx bullets and sierra blitz some 20 years ago. now nobody loads these commercially. i now use the hornady vmax. i have been having coyotes run as much as 100 yard when shot behind the shoulder. i would like to hear what type of bullets some of u other coyote busters are using.

okcoyote i just bought a .223 barrel for my encore and i have been shooting winchester (white box) 45 gr. hollow pts. you can find them at wal mart for about $10.00 for a box of 40. they shoot great groups and i have shot 3 coyotes so far and none have left their tracks. i think they also carry .22-250. hunter

I cast my vote for the .22-250, my current one being a new Savage 12BVSS I've had since about August and have oh, maybe 600 rounds through. Sweet shooting rifle though I'm still having trouble with the AccuTrigger dropping the striker while I'm depressing the safety lever.
It's a bit heavy for carrying around in the field. I'd be happy to take that M700 in the contest! ;D

I built one of the last mini-Mark X Mausers in 223, in 1994. It's very light weight, and puts 50 gr Rem HP's into .75 ALWAYS, and .375 if the operator (me) does his part, at 100 meters. 5 shots open up due to the pencil-weight barrel, but I figure #'s 4 & 5 are salutes to a departing coyote anyway. I've used the 223 a lot since about 1968. It does what you ask for on the coyotes and bobcats. The last couple of years I have used the 22-250 AI (8 twist) on a Rem 700 action. It is sweet. Now I am on the 22 Dasher bandwagon......they are REALLY sweet. I am alternating back and forth now with a 17 MK4 (700 action w/switch barrel to a 223) and my new 22 Dasher on a 788 action. One of the great things about old age is forgetting what your favorite is and getting to pick a new one every few days...LOL

I use my .220 Swift in Rem 700VS for coyotes with a 55g pill. Great killer. I also have a .222, .222mag, and a 6mm. All Remington 700s.

I voted for 22-250 because that's the only rifle I own...We aren't allowed to use high powered rifles for deer in Ohio but we are for predators and varmints. Go figure. I'll try to get a picture up soon. Savage 11fxp3 22-250.

I use a beat up old ruger 77 with the long tang safety in 6mm rem. This one has a good barrel and can shoot better than I can. I like it because it's typically windy in this part of the country so I shoot heavier bullets (100 grain) plus it works for a lot of different critters and I want a longtail real bad. I do plan on getting an ar15 in 223 one of these days though, a man can't have too many weapons can he.

I have a Savage model 12 22-250 shooting Winchester 45 gr jhp and I have killed deer, coyotes, even buzzards at 300 yds. This is a wicked little gun with alot of range.

In 34 years of hunting predators I have shot just about every caliber and combination and configureation of gun that man has concived from 12 caliber to 25-06. I feel that in the right hands they all will do the job.
A few years ago a friend of mine started talking about the .204 and what it was able to do. I said will it beat the 22-250 and smiled a Texas sized grin at him. He smugly replyed Yes......... My reply was ,,,,Bull@#$%% I have shot them to long and there is no way a .223 case necked down will ever compete with a 22-250. Well boys, I come to tell ya I was wrong. I have been shooting a Tact20 for two years now and have learned alot of things about the .204 caliber
there are bullets from 30 grn to 50 grn and IT SHOOTS.
Of all the calibers that I have played with and been devoted to for so many years This one takes the cake.
I can tell you story after story but what I want to say is if you like "BANG-FLOP" the ability to shoot to 350 and never have to put the crosshairs above the fur (no guessing) and don't want spinners then you need to look at the Tact20, NOT the .204 ruger, its just a hot 222 that will compete with the .223 The Tact20 will run over the 22-250 , Thats right I said outperform the infamous 22-250 , its already been done.
I know that some will roll their eyes and say bull@#$% but actions speek louder than sentiment and loyalty.
one other thing, I like to watch them fold up and go down and untill the 20 I didn't get that much, recoil robbed me of that sight for years
My vote is for the Tact20 and 4410fps
