What is your go to rifle for coyote and fox hunting? I use a custom Hill Country Rifles 22-250 with a black teflon coated stainless 20" Lilja #4 barrel on a Model 7 action bedded in a spruce green HS Precision stock and topped with a Nikon Monarch 3-9x40 Matte scope.

I voted for 257 Roberts, the closest to my actual rifle. It is a Remington M700 stainless mtn. rifle in 260 Remington, 22" barrel, with a lightweight fiberglass stock made by WildCat Composites. Scope is a Bushnell Elite 3200 5-15X40mm AO in Burris rings. I've been shooting 100 gr. Nosler Ballistic Tips, but will be trying either 90 gr. Speer TnT's or 95 gr. Hornady V-Max's this winter.

I think I've killed a coyote with every gun I ever owned, this said I used a 222 most. However as posted in new members I just bought a 223 Howa, standard Hunter model 22" barrel, wood stock. howa makes a nice inexpensive gun, trigger is adjustable, and I was suprised when removing stock- the recoil lug is glass bedded, barrel is touching only at tip and I removed that, I prefer to float barrels, however its easy to slip a card stock piece of paper under if it shoots better that way. I will make it to range soon. Speaking of range shooting, I love this part of guns, testing different loads, I am waiting on Lee to send the size portion of Lee loader, I really like to take one to range, shoot group, reload using different components and the shooting again- gives barrel time to cool between groups. At home I use regular Rockchucker and measure, one thing at range, I use scale, but you have to be careful of wind. Richard Grantham

I have hunted with a .243, a .223 and .222 and all of them do a good job, but my favorite is the .223. I bought the .223 and the .222 off the internet - both of them are the Remington mdl 788 and the cost was pretty moderate for each of them. The.223 is so durned accurate that it makes me look good.

Well mine is going to have to be my Remington model 788 in .243 loaded with some real nice shootin 60 gr Sierra HP. Right now its topped off with a 3x9x36 Swarovski, but will be changing that out to go with a little bigger optic for the night hunting.

Hey CD, I am intrigued by your .224TTH project. The only time I have seen one in action was on TV with Horace Gore. Who are you going to have build it and what barrel and action are you going to use? Give us the details of your project rifle. For those of you unfamiliar with the .224TTH, it is a 6mm necked down to .224. It was designed as an "Anniversary Cartridge" for the Texas Trophy Hunters Association. Here is a link with the specifics: www.ttha.com/224tth.htmIt will be fun to watch your rifle come together and see how it does in the field. Bob

Mike Shumaker of Hill Country Arms,Inc (Kerrville,Tx) will be doing the work. I've been looking for a Sako action but have settled for a Ruger77RS, Douglas air-gagued barrel with a 1-8 twist (not sure of the contour because it might be an octagon one). The stock is coming from Lone Wolf Riflestocks (Modified Match Master). Nikon Tactical 2.5-10 scope and the bullets well lets just say they slice through the wind . Tungsten cored meaning I can have heavier bullets for the same size as the lighter ones. To give you an idea the 103 grain bullets are the same lenght as a 80gr SMK, and an 87gr one is equal to a 69gr SMK. I post more details as things develope.

Ditto on the 221 Fireball; mine has been the go-to rifle for 10+ years, even with great 223's and a 250 Sav onhand. Prior to the Fireball, used to carry a K-Hornet, and now I just received my first 17...a beautiful Cooper 21 in 17 Mach IV. Fireball may be pouting in the safe.... Also have a neat 25-223 that is impressive with 72gr Bergers, but I sometimes forget to drag it out.

Well, I guess my choice would have to the Swift. A PURPLE one at that !!!!!! LMAO I have a deadly combination using a Tally Ho call and shooting the Swift. Those who have seen my handy work on HM and PM can attest. Coondawg in regards to the 22/6mm. It is an awesome round. Did my first triple with it. Harold Broughton, the originator of this cartridge, not TTH, built mine. You should see what a 75gr A-Max does to a yote out of this gun. I also have taken my largest antelope with it.
